The arch of the main gate to the KPU campus bears the inscription, "VIVERE EST COGITARE, " which was cited from Tusculanarum Disputationum by Cicero and translated from Latin, "Life is thought."
The monument

In front of the entrance to the University there is a monument named "Imaginary Aurora." The sculpture is made of steel and is 7.3 meters in height, 11x5 meters in width and weighs 13 tons. According to Mr. SHIMODA Osamu, who designed the monument, it expresses both the seventy of the environment in this northern area and the power of young people studying here, impressing on them the frontier spirit which students are expected to display.

The KPU emblem is patterned on Kushiro's Jacob's Ladder, Polemonium laxiflorum f.
paladosum, a flower which can be found in Kushiro Marshland and to which nobility and dignity are usually attributed by Kushiro people. It was designed by Mr. SHIBATA Yoriyuki.
