Sourcing information from local communities
The Kushiro Public University Research Center for Regional Economics has been active in the formulation of new style research activities since its establishment in June 1999 as a research institute within the public university of social science.
Its main activity is to organize and promote various themes for region-related research projects commissioned by both administrative and private organizations, with the active participation of external researchers selected in accordance with the particular study subject being pursued.
The center also attempts to broadly associate with local societies by supporting and assisting the autonomous activities of communities, helping revitalize local economies in cooperation with various industries, administrations and universities, and providing seminars for local residents.
With the advent of economic globalization, the time has come where it is necessary for each region to directly deal with the international community, and where we are required to think and act from a regional standpoint.
The Research Center for Regional Economics aims to provide innovative informational feedback from local communities through the establishment of a spatially transcended information network.
